Item Display vs Item vs Package Dimensions in Amazon Seller

When creating a product or updating an item for online selling in Amazon seller panel, it asks for item display dimensions, item dimensions and package dimensions. Sellers often get confused between these terms.

Package dimension: It can be denoted as number two in dimension chain. It is the dimension of packed product which is ready to ship. It would include outer packing material used like foam, bubble wrap, thermocol etc.

Item dimension: It is denoted as number one in dimension chain. It is dimension of product when it comes from manufacturer to seller. Could be in a box or in some wrap. Dimension of this individual unit is item dimension. It can also be defined as packed box which is present with seller or in retail shop. It is unopened or closed packing.

Item display dimension: This can be termed as item usage dimension. It is dimension of the assembled item at buyer’s end. There could be some parts which would be assembled to make a final usage product.

Example: A carpet is of size 60 x 24 x 2 inches. Item display dimension would be 60x24x2 inches. Manufacturer ships it to seller as a roll in size of 8 x 24 x 8, so this is item dimension. Seller than repack it with outer bubble wrap and other material making the size as 8.5 x 24.5 x 8.5, this would be package dimension which seller ships to buyer.
