In this digital world of smartphone we are bit lazy and don’t want to go outside to reply for a door bell. some times they are wrong knocks on the door. a product idea to somewhat handle the issue.
We do have some digital gadgets to answer door bells/door knocks like door camera and mic/speaker. Generally these are not connected to smartphone which we carry in hand most of the time. One concept is to connect it with Wifi/internet and check on smartphone. We will present another product idea in this post.
Visitor arrival rate has increased at the door due to more ecommerce orders being placed. Generally we are ordering more and more online and we hear more door bells of courier person and even more when there is a return/replacement request. Siblings often fight and ask (not request) the other one to go and check as they don’t want to go out and find that the visitor wants to meet someone else.
The solution would be to have multiple buttons/bell buttons each having name of the person inside the premises. Each button would be linked to an individual. It would be connected with wifi/internet calling app. Where the call gets placed to that person only and others are not disturbed. With this the visitor and the person can do voice and video call with each other. The system should have inbuilt software to detect and hold making multiple press in cases where the visitor is pressing all available buttons. With a minimum time gap (say 30 seconds) before the next call can be connected this can be done.
Some disadvantages of above approach is that there would be many bell buttons to be installed when there are many people inside premises.
Another secure approach would be a digital panel where the visitor types name or contact number of the person whom he/she wants to meet. If the name/number matches with the pre defined contacts then the call is made. Another feature that can be added to this is address scanning. Visitor (if a courier person) has the order package with address having name/contact number then instead of typing it, the address will be read by camera/scanner and matched with contacts in pre defined list. This approach would be faster than typing manually.
We have mentioned above with respect to a home/family. Taking it to a bigger scale of office, factory, company where more than 5-10 people are there. What happens in such a scenario is that visitor meets guards, guard then calls person and who then takes time to arrive. With this approach there would be direct calling to person by the visitor. What courier person, cab driver is doing is calling before arriving (is it legal to be on call while driving?) which saves time. But it is risky being on call while driving!
