Facebook friend lists are getting smarter day by day. Earlier from the basic friends categories (in built) to custom build (by you) friends lists, now more option have come in after the cool circles of Google Plus.
Recently, a new Friend section Friends not on a list has been added and it does help you categorize people which are missing from you friend lists. Earlier it was not easy to identify the friends who are not in any list and was possible by individually checking every friend.
Why this feature was required?
This feature was required because we are now able to connect with more and more friends and building new friends, so keeping track of friends category wise i.e. friend list wise is very important now. Also, as Facebook has implemented sharing messages and posts with custom lists and to certain friends and not everyone, with this Friends not on a list, one will be able to identify and add to people to lists so that none of your friends is left out while sharing a post.
The Smart Lists
Facebook has come up with Smart Lists which will vastly improve the quality of the Facebook user experience by automatically segmenting friends into one of the following categories (Smart Lists):
- Friends you attended school with
- Friends who live <50 miles from you
- Friends you work with
Along with this automatic segmentation (Smart Lists), Facebook has come up with yet another friend list feature which enables users to manually organize friends into a Friend List. This feature, which has been on Facebook for quite some time, allows Facebook users to manually segment friends in the following manner:
- Restricted – People who you do not want to share information with
- Acquaintances – People you do not want featured prominently in your News Feed
- Close Friends – People you want to hear from often
